7 And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight (Acts 1:7-9).
Luke the author of the book of Acts is describing Christ’s accession and the Great Commission. Notice that witnesses, through the power of the Holy Spirit, accomplish the spread of Gospel. So when we witness about Christ, we are doing so as we are required, but the true power is not our own power. It is ultimately the work of the Holy Sprit that proceeds from the Father and the Son that accomplishes the work of salvation. We are witnesses to the power of God and we testify to what we know, but it is God that changes the heart. To God be all the glory and praise!
