17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid. 18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 39:17-18).
When God’s people are faithful, God always come to their aid. It may appear at times that this is not so, but remember that God speaks, sees and acts from an eternal perspective. So all of God’s actions in response to Man have everlasting aims. Part of being faithful is trusting in God and in God’s sovereign choices. In many instances, we may question far too much God’s plan. While this is natural, we would be wise to remember that it is God alone that is in charge, and in the end, all of His actions are just.
