1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. 2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. 3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. 4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah (Genesis 25:1-4).
God had promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. So it is not surprising that he remarried and had more children. I think we often forget about these verses in chapter 25 (at least I did). Several of these names formed nations we still know today. Sheba and Dedan are forefathers of those that now live in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. As God promised father Abraham is in deed the ancestor of many, but most importantly the father of the children of the promise (of which the entire bible speaks).
