26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. 27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people (Ezekiel 37:26-27).
While there may be a future fulfillment of this prophecy at the second coming, this prophecy by Ezekiel was also fulfilled in Christ through the work on the Cross. Christ is both tabernacle and sanctuary. The tabernacle in that Christ is the very holiness of the Godhead bodily. The sanctuary in that through Christ the true worship of God is possible. Christ is the New Covenant and through Him we are made children of God. The New Covenant is an everlasting covenant and signifies the restoration of the proper relationship between God and His people. In Christ Jesus, paradise lost in Genesis 3 is restored.
