9Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me (Psalm 41:9).
23And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. 24The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. 25Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said (Matthew 26:23-25).
One of the most puzzling events is the betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot. An event prophesied many years before Christ in Psalm 41. Judas witnessed all the miracles and heard all the words of Christ. How is it possible that he would betray Him? It is difficult to understand how someone so close to Christ would end up turning Him in to be crucified. However, the story of Judas should challenge us to be true friends of Christ, friends that do not deny Him and friends that truly obey His commands.
