22The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate (Psalm 34:22).
45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
A theme that has repeated over the last several months in our study is that the Old Testament points to and is deeply connected to the New Testament. All of scripture ultimately points to Christ as redeemer. According to the eternal counsel of God, the plan for redemption of both mankind and creation was through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. What is prophesied in Psalm 34 is fulfilled in Christ’s life, suffering, death and resurrection. During this Easter season, we should rejoice in the knowledge that our Savior has literally given Himself so that we will be redeemed. This is the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as spoken through the Old Testament prophets and revealed throughout the pages of New Testament scripture. Maranatha (The Lord will come again).
