12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him (Psalm 2:12).
31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name (John 20:31).
As mentioned yesterday, Psalm 2 is full of Messianic prophecies. David wrote this Psalm over 1000 years before Christ. Israel had been waiting for the promised Messiah literally for centuries. The centuries of wait perhaps made it difficult to accept the simplicity of the promise. The promise from verse 12 is that all who put their trust in Him will be blessed. In John 20:31 the blessing is defined as life itself (everlasting). When we believe in Christ we are placing trust in His name. His name has profound meaning, remember Christ is I AM (John 8:58). I AM (Yahweh) is the name of God and through this name we have life. In Christ, we were therefore created, are sustained and ultimately are redeemed. This is the good news of the Gospel, foretold 1000 years before our Savior lived.
