15The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. 16In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. 17The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing (Zephaniah 3: 15-17).
Zephaniah was a prophet to the Southern kingdom (Judah) during the reign of Josiah. Josiah was one of the few Kings that was relatively faithful to God. Interestingly, we know from 2 Kings 22:1 that Josiah was just 8 years old when he became King. He grew up fast.
These verses from Zephaniah look forward to a time of renewal and restoration. It is only the Creator that can restore His creation. There is something very significant in these verses. Notice in verse 15 that the ‘Lord is in the midst of thee’. This is a sign that paradise will one day be restored. The presence of God is what makes paradise, actually paradise. Remember in the beginning that God and Man (Adam and Eve) were together in the Garden of Eden. These verses from Zephaniah are a promise that one-day the Creator will restore things anew.
There is something else in these verses that is very important. It is God the Creator that does the work of restoring. God is mighty and God saves. When you are facing struggles in this life remember that there is nothing that is outside the ability and power of God to restore. Call on Him when you need a savior. The Creator is mighty to save.
