9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven (Psalm 85:9-11).
It is the will of God to be merciful. Therefore, mercy results from the sovereign actions of God. It is impossible to separate truth and mercy as well. It is important to remember that it is God’s truth that is the standard. It seems that the world often loses sight of the fact that the standard for truth is not our own. The fact is that we would not want our standards to be the truth. The reason our standards would not be desirable is our standards lack true power and true mercy. And it is God, in mercy, who will restore the Creation. The restoration of the Creation will result in peace and the reign of righteousness. This is good news for a world that desperately needs peace and the reign of righteousness.
