1Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts (Malachi 3:1).
15And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; 16And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple (Mark 11:15-16).
43And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent (Luke 4:43).
Malachi foretold of the coming of the forerunner (John the Baptist). Additionally, Malachi prophesized that the Messiah would come suddenly to the Temple and that there will be covenant associated with His coming. The Gospel of Mark discussed the fulfillment of the Temple prophecies as Christ entered the Temple suddenly and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers. Christ was purifying the Temple. In the Gospel account of Luke, we learn that the New Covenant will be preached to many. So, Christ purifies the Temple then ratifies a New Covenant, a covenant that is to be preached to the whole world. God’s redemptive plan is from eternity and the pages of scripture testify about the redemption of the world through the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
