78 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth (Psalm 78:1).
God’s desire for us is for us to listen to His commands and His words. It is through the word of God that we can gain an understanding of His sovereign will. We are to heed the commands of God for several reasons. One reason is that God is to be obeyed simply because He is God. The second reason is tied to the first, God is glorified when we listen and obey Him. A third reason to heed God’s words and commands is for our own benefit. God, through His commands and words is revealing Himself to us. When God reveals Himself to us, we can follow God. We can rest assured that our ultimate best interests are protected. God’s way, as revealed through His word, leads to our salvation.
