22Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?(Job 36:22)
55In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me (Matthew 26:55).
34And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things (Mark 6:35).
2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him (John 3:2).
In this prophecy from Job, we see a reference to the Messiah as a teacher. Much of Christ’s earthly ministry revolved around teaching. The selected verses from Matthew, Mark and John are just several examples where Christ is described as a teacher. The idea of the Messiah being a teacher was likely foreign to the Jewish people at the time of Christ. Rather than giving what was expected, God provided what was needed. The people were expecting a conquering Messiah and instead they were presented with the Messiah that is interested in teaching His people the truths of the Kingdom of God. Christ is our teacher and there are many things to learn from Him in the pages of scripture.
