4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. 5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped (Isaiah 35:4-5).
3And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 4Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them (Matthew 11:3-5).
Isaiah tells us that the Messiah is both God and Savior. A sign of the Messiah’s power is that He heals. In the Gospel of Matthew, some of John the Baptist’s followers were asking whether Jesus was the promised Messiah. Jesus answered them by referring to Isaiah’s prophecy as evidence that Christ was in fact the promised Messiah. As we have discussed previously, Scripture delineates the identity of the Messiah very clearly and specifically. Christ Himself testifies to His own identity. There should be little room for doubt as to the identity of Christ as Messiah. God the Son is Healer and Savior.
