19Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead (Isaiah 26:19).

This prophecy from Isaiah describes the resurrection. The Messiah we learn has power even over death. In the passage from the Gospel of John, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. Just prior to this, Mary and Martha proclaim that Christ is the Son of God. The actual resurrection to life then is preceded by an expression of faith. Christ is the resurrection and life. The promise to all that believe is that one-day through Christ’s power we will be raised imperishable to life.
