1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day (Genesis 1:1-5)..
In the beginning God simply spoke and the world was created. There is no explanation given for the details of the processes that might have been involved in creation but rather a statement of fact, almost in a matter-of-fact manner...assumed. A logical conclusion from the brevity of "God created", and "And God said" is that the act of creation was instantaneous, from nothing to amazing in the blink of an eye. So what are we to learn from these opening words of scripture? Well, God is powerful and the distance between His thoughts and actions is quite short, and in fact, not present. God creates as a part of His being. God is, and therefore, God creates. This powerful God should be worshiped.
