5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We are instructed to rely on God and not simply trust in our own understanding. This instruction is for our benefit. God will allow us to go our own way but we will often find that our way is not the best way. In fact, our way may be harmful. The only sure way to know that any outcome will be for the good is to follow God, wherever His path leads. It may appear that this way is tough and unappealing, but in the end, we can rest assured that God’s way is the way that is most beneficial to us. The benefit to us is that God’s way is the way that leads to an abundant life.
