10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious (Isaiah 11:10).
The rest of God is glorious. Isaiah looked forward to a time when God would bring rest to all people. We now know that Christ is the Sabbath day rest. All of scripture points to Christ as the standard-bearer and fulfillment of law of God. The use of the word rest is significant here since it is on the final day of the week that God rested from His work in creation. So too is Christ the final action and rest of God in support of creation. And this action, this glorious rest, is for all peoples. Christ is the standard to which we should seek and the final glorious rest we all share.
