13And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you (Exodus 3:13-14).
58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am (John 8:58).
Although this passage from Exodus is not specifically a prophetic passage, it does reveal that the name of God as revealed in the Old Testament is applied to Christ in New Testament. The statement by Christ in the gospel of John is the strongest indication from all of scripture that Christ is God. The Jewish teachers of the Law that Christ was speaking with undeniably realized that Christ was stating that He is God. This is an excellent example of the confirming nature of scripture. Scripture in the New Testament reaffirms scripture from the Old Testament. Most importantly, scripture uniformly testifies about Christ. And this is Good News.
