9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isaiah 46:9-10).
Reading these verses it is hard to deny that God declares that He is sovereign. This is not a God that just lets things be. God is the designer, the architect, the judge, and the ruler. He is unchanging. When God speaks, whatever is spoken will occur. God does not need or desire advisors, prognosticators or pundits. What God desires is a people, set apart by Him, through which He displays His sovereign grace for their good and His glory.
