5Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude (Daniel 10:5-6).
13And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death (Revelation 1:13-18).
Daniel’s prophecy is a glimpse into heaven. Specifically, it is a glimpse of God. We know from the book of Revelation, that the glimpse of God that Daniel saw was in fact that of Christ Himself. No one should doubt the deity of Christ; He is God the Son. He is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last. Revelation 1:18 confirms that Christ is the author of salvation and He alone controls the eternal destiny of us all. The prophecy of Daniel, as confirmed in the book of Revelation, reveals the very nature of Christ as God. Christ is pure (white as snow), all-knowing and discerning (eyes were as flames of fire), perfect (fine brass, as if burned in a furnace), all-powerful (voice as the sound of many waters), eternal (first and last, alive for evermore), and judge (has the keys of hell and of death). Christ has all the attributes of God. Therefore, Daniel and John both came face-to-face with Christ as God and they described for us what it is like to be in His presence. His presence demands worship.
