4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? 8Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? 9When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, 10And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, 11And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? 12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; 13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? (Job 38: 4-13)
Job is one of the most intriguing books in all of scripture. It is intriguing because there are many direct conversations between the Creator and the created. There are conversations between God and both angelic beings (including Satan himself) and human beings(Job). We get a glimpse of the mind of God. The mind of God is present eternally and it touches creation in the form of what I would term a command presence. The Creator laid the foundations, the measures, and the corner stone. He fastened it all together; and brought time out of eternity (commanded the morning and caused the dayspring to know his place). This is truly amazing. The creator God commands even time. Do you realize what it means that the Creator commands time? This is the ultimate argument for the existence of God. For no process, be it evolutionary or otherwise, can create time, and in fact it is assumed that there is time, and a lot of it in order for evolution to occur. Fundamentally, atheists that hold to the Theory of Evolution deny the need of a god as creator, and yet one of their assumptions (time) must have been present. The logic of those saying there is no God that created is hopelessly flawed; their god becomes a process that is unable to command or create time, and yet requires that there be time in abundance. But where did time come from? This effectively makes time the Creator, yet this is not possible since time cannot create itself-nobody purposes time to be a purposeful being. Time cannot be Creator.
But you may ask then where did God come from? The answer, God came out of eternity into the time He created. He is therefore self-existent outside of time. Since the creation exists in time, only the God that commands even time could have been Creator because there is no assumption of time but instead the reality that time was created. And since time was created it occurred as a result of something outside of time. It occurred because God commands time out of eternity. Therefore, there is a beginning, for the creation was brought into existence in time. The Creator is commander of time.
