God promised Abraham that his decedents would be too numerous to count. It took faith for Abraham to believe God, since at the time (and he was old) Abraham had no children. There is a very significant theological fact reveled in verse 6. Abraham’s belief was counted as righteousness. So faith is saving. Specifically, faith in God is saving.
